Sometime in the near future...

I'd always loved the night, where anything could happen and everything usually did. The forbidden...the unexpected...the bad. Nothing seemed real in the ethereal light of the moon. Sins were easily forgiven. Why not play? everyone thought -- I had once thought. Why not enjoy?

At the moment, loud, gyrating music pounded through the darkness, vibrating with so much force the ground shook and the trees swayed. In the center of a forest clearing, my friends danced around a blazing fire, and in the flickering gold and shadows their hands were everywhere. Their mouths were kissing hungrily, their bodies moved to the rhythm of the rock, fast and erratic. Sexual.

Pheonix Germaine has major problems, but she's working on changing her life from drug addict, to good girl. Unfortunately, trouble finds her even when she's being good. This time, though, she's recruited into an elite alien fighting force with a sexy instructor, named Ryan, she cannot resist. He's so hot. The book was nonstop action, and Showalter knows how to write sexual tension. I gave it 4 stars because I wanted more. The book ended too soon!

Well...this book is part of the AIR (Alien investigation and Removal unit)series written by Gena Sheowalter. Earth, after many years of waging a costly war with otherworlders(aliens) has finally formed a truce with the aliens, lest earth be detroyed.The aliens hav signed pacts not to harm humans, however there are always those who hav trouble following rules.This is where AIR comes in...AIR agents track down and kill rogue aliens.It is a lot like a Police Force, but with less rules to hinder there progress (like the warrant rule, or the rule of trial).This book follows Phoenix, a 17 year old "former" drug addict who is chosen as a new recruit for AIR.For the next year, she will train to hunt and kill aliens, if she can last of course, because in AIR if you are not up to standard, you get kicked out.Its kinda like an elite summer camp.Anyway, it follows Phoenix during her stay at this "camp" and her budding romance with one of her teachers, who is only a couple of year older than her and strictly off limits. Overall this was a good book, although it was very short, and rushed towards it in the end.
